Job Description

Within the UK, 75% of clinical & microbiological laboratories contain a bacterial identification system, allowing for accurate and reliable results to be released to patients efficiently.This leading instrument manufacturer is seeking an ambitious and experienced sales specialist to represent their microbial identification instrumentation to microbiological and clinical laboratories.Drawing upon your understanding of these markets and previous scientific sales experience, you will build long-term relationships with customers across the north of the UK and Scotland, to fully understanding their needs. You will promote appropriate solutionsto customers on your territory to achieve sales targets, and work to raise the profile of the company across the broader microbiological sciences community.To achieve this, you will undertake a broad range of activities, including, but not limited to:

  • Developing and implementing sales plans to grow current client accounts and identify new business opportunities
  • Prospecting & following-up on leads
  • Technical and commercial follow-ups with customers and arranging/hosting customer demos
  • Working closely with customers to ensure they have the correct solutions, support and assistance required
  • Attending talks, conferences and national & international meetings
Previous scientific sales experience is essential. The ideal candidate will bring experience of selling diagnostic systems and accompanying consumables, although individuals possessing a background in other scientific capital equipment or analytical laboratoryservices are encouraged to apply.To succeed in this position, you must enjoy helping people, have excellent communication skills, be organised and proactive.A large portion of your time will be spent visiting customers laboratories and so you must be comfortable with a significant amount (up to 70%) travel.
