Job Description

Pertemps are delighted to be working with our public sector organisation to recruit for an M&E Manager on a temporary basis. RoleMechanical and Electrical (M&E) ManagerLocationEdinburghDuration6 months with possible extensionHoursMondayFriday, 36 hours per weekRate of pay - £24.16 - £28.92 per hour (depending on experience)Start asap The successful candidate will be managing and leading a group of technical staff providing a comprehensive service to the highest professional standards on all aspects of Mechanical and Electrical (M&R) statutory and maintenance services for an operationalestate. M&E encompasses all mechanical, electrical, Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) Controls, energy and sustainability installations, lifts, escalators, hoists and any other equipment relating to the operational estate. You will be carrying out, but not limited to, the following:

  • Undertake a range of projects/areas of work related to operations and revenue maintenance works delivery ensuring outcomes are delivered on time to standard and on budget.
  • Develop, prioritise, plan and manage the proactive and reactive M&E statutory and maintenance works to ensure buildings and sites are maintained to the appropriate fit for function standards prioritised on health and safety and meeting the statutory complianceobligations and to avoid subsequent damage and operational impact and risk.
  • Ensure that all statutory functions within scope are legislatively compliant and each function delivers a programme of statutory inspections
  • Identify and communicate long term requirements that require high level coordination with other Services.
  • Act as an initial point of contact for building users and staff, by providing expertise and advice relating to M&E services engineering construction, installation, maintenance and statutory compliance inspection, testing and repairs.
  • Coordinate approach and requirements with the internal and external stakeholders in accordance with the asset lifecycle optimisation performance including identification of properties or assets beyond economical repair.
  • Participate in review of deign proposals to ensure compliance with maintenance strategy and also ensure demonstrations/handovers/commissioning are attended by appropriate FM staff.
  • Define and monitor the budget requirements associated with M&E statutory compliance and maintenance functions
  • Act as Principal Designer on all projects where appointed as such.
  • Support with the preparation and content of reports, strategic plans, other documents, briefings, presentations and FOIs for meetings, external agencies, senior officers, and the relevant committees as well as business and stakeholder groups
  • Respond to enquiries, giving high-level professional advice and information on current services and the interpretation of relevant policies. Reporting on and interpreting performance management information against statutory indicators and other professionalstandards, legal requirements etc.
