Job Description

Business Development Research AnalysisHybrid- Edinburgh or LondonThe closing date for applications is 15th January 2023.Interviews are expected to take place in the week commencing 30th January 2023.About UsThe International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) is a policy and action research organisation promoting sustainable development and linking local priorities to global challenges. IIED has bases in London and Edinburgh, in Amsterdam with IIEDEurope. Strengthening the voice of vulnerable and marginalised people in the decisions that affect their lives has been a feature of IIEDs work for 50 years. Our research highlights the complex nature of the systems that produce poor outcomes for people,and the way these systems are spread across scales and geographies.We are currently seeking a Business Development Research Analysis to join us on a part-time basis working either 14 or 21 hours per week.The Benefits- A salary of £28,665 - 34,688, pro-rata, per annum- 25 days annual leave per year, pro-rata, increasing by one day for every completed 2 years service up to 30 days for full-time staff with 10 years service. This is an excellent opportunity for someone embarking on their business development career. In this role you will develop experience of conducting donor research, donor compliance, funding opportunityscanning and eligibility, as well as a solid knowledge of the funding arena for international, research and climate change sectors. The role requires knowledge of the charity sector, climate change and sustainability, and preferably knowledge of institutionaldonors, such as the EU, FCDO, OSF.This is a new role within IIED, reflecting the organisations investment in Business Development. The role would suit someone with a collaborative and team spirit, who is excited by supporting research colleagues to raise income for ground-breaking, by conductingdonor research and scanning funding opportunities. In the wake of COP27 & COP15, you will be joining us at a time when climate change is at the top of the agenda for institutional donors.You will work very closely with IIEDs Business Development Team, research colleagues and project managers, who are leading efforts to with a wide selection of potential donors, including trusts, foundations, multi-laterals, governments and commercial leads.About YouTo be considered as a Business Development Research Analysis, you will need:- Knowledge of how to conduct donor research, such as trusts, foundations, multi-laterals, governments and commercial leads.- A can-do, collaborative, team spirit. - Experience of keeping a track of your own research, including on excel documents.- Proven capacity to work on your own initiative and with minimal supervision.- Knowledge of sustainable development and climate change issues.- An awareness of the actors, institutions and issues in the sustainable development arena.- The ability to interact with colleagues across the organisation and learn about research priorities and thematic areas.- Advanced IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).IIED is a hybrid working organisation and you are likely to be working from home most of the time.
