Job Description

Apprentice Vehicle TechnicianWest End Garage ŠKODA has been proudly serving the Edinburgh, Dunfermline, and Stirling communities for over 30 years. Due to continued success, we are now looking to recruit for a full-timeApprentice Vehicle Technician based inEdinburgh; EH11.The successful candidate will be enrolled on the VW Apprenticeship Programme and earn an Apprentice wage, circa £5.28 per hour, with a view to achieving the Service Technician qualification with West End Garage.This really is a fantastic opportunity to start a competitive and lucrative career. Fully qualified Vehicle Technicians earn between £30,000 - £35,000 per year, depending on skills and experience.Please note - the ideal candidate will need to have minimum level 5 English & Maths, with a practical skill qualification, in order to be accepted onto the Volkswagen/Skoda apprenticeship.Role Requirements

  • Genuine interest in automotive technology and mechanics
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team environment
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Minimum national level 5 English & Maths, with a practical skill qualification
Role Responsibilities
  • Assist senior technicians in diagnosing and repairing vehicle issues
  • Learn and apply vehicle maintenance techniques, including oil changes, tyre rotations, and brake inspections
  • Gain knowledge in vehicle systems, such as engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and computer diagnostics
  • Observe and adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment
  • Develop strong communication skills to effectively interact with team members and clients
  • Embrace continuous learning and actively participate in training programs
