Job Description

Regulatory Affairs Assistant (chemicals) c23-28k + Bonus Midlands ABJ5068aA regulatory affairs assistant you will use your chemistry knowledge to provide assistance in regulatory support across the R&D function of a leading chemicals company. You will be a key support in authoring and issuing regulatory documentation (e.g. SDS, labels, product statements) as well as organising efficient communications with internal and external customers on a variety of regulatory issues. As regulatory assistant with a chemicals background you will assist the Regulatory Affairs Manager where necessary on regulatory notifications while developing an understanding of global chemical compliance processes and customs.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responding to customer queries regarding regulatory status of products globally, both internally and externally to tight deadlines.
  • Work with purchasing department to contact suppliers of raw materials for information and address regulatory information requests
  • Create new SDS and labels for new products / regulatory regions, to identify missing information in supplier SDS; assist in applying appropriate hazard classifications for SDS/labels globally,
  • Review and maintain data in Regulatory Affairs Team raw material product compliance tools to ensure it is up to date and available.
  • Analyse and Identify information that requires review and suggest areas in need of update.
  • Assist Regulatory Specialist and Manager to compile data for Regulatory notifications and other data requirements; playing a bigger part in working with regulatory authorities over time.
  • BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  • Suitable candidates will ideally have a degree in an associated science subject.
  • Ability to interpret the identity of chemical substances via name, structure and identifiers such as CAS, EC number etc.
  • Experience of authoring Safety Data sheets, SDSs and conducting hazard classifications, preferably gained in an industrial environment desirable
  • Quality conscious and methodical approach to work, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise workload, adapting to fit the changing needs of the business.
  • Experience in interpreting chemical characterisation data (UV/Vis, NMR, GPC, etc) desirable
  • Previous experience in regulatory affairs or related discipline
  • Experience of authoring SDSs and conducting hazard classifications,
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of polymers desirable
  • Training in toxicology, CoSHH or related areas
  • Practical exposure and experience in the following areas would be advantageous:
  • Chemical Hazard Classification GHS/EU/Transport Material, Chemical labelling and packaging advice.
