Our client is a well-established and highly regarded business operating within the construction / house building industry across the Midlands area.As part of the companies continued expansion and internal development FRS have been enlisted on a retained basis to assist with the recruitment of a newly created role of Head of Finance / Finance Director Designate.This position is being recruited with succession planning in mind and will partner closely with the MD and Group Finance Director in the day to day running of the business whilst also delivering a number of projects to drive improvement to long existingprocesses / controls / systemsThe ideal candidate for this position will be a experienced finance leader that is formally qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with a number of years PQE ideally gained within the Construction / House Building Industry.Candidates must share the C Suites desire for driving change and improvement and have the aspiration to work towards a Finance Director position within the next 12-24 months.Responsibilities:• Day-to-day leadership of the finance team adhering to Group reporting deadlines• Ownership of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting for the Region (P&L, BS and Cash)• Oversight of the monthly management accounting process and responsibility for the output of the 2x Qualified Accountants (Direct Reports) and 8 Indirect reports (Finance & IT)• Oversight of the weekly cash flow forecasts and responsibility of managing rolling funding requirements for the business• Review and challenge site valuation cost to complete forecasts as a key control• Undertake continual margin analysis against forecast and budget, maintaining plot profitability schedules, and keeping the business informed• Support the GFD in understanding and improving the working capital cycle to enhance and maximise ROCE• Develop and maintain financial policies and adhere to Group procedures to ensure consistency of reporting• Quality assurance of all VAT and SDLT payments in respect of land purchase• Close management of our build contract including regular cash flow reporting, invoicing and communication with their respective finance function• Point of contact for the external auditors and oversight of the audit process• Attendance at key leadership meetings with MD / C Suite• Financial assistance and decision making support to local management• Support with ad hoc projects and information requestsThe ideal candidate will be formally qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) and ideally have at least 5+ years PQE operating in a senior finance position within the House Building / Construction Industry.• Passion for driving and delivering change and improvement• Deep understanding of financial and operational information & processes• Strong leadership qualities / ability to develop and nurture.• Experience of working with unstructured data / information• Advanced analytical and Excel modellingIn return candidates will be rewarded with a progressive opportunity and a clear route into the Finance Director Position.You will have great opportunity to lead on a number of improvement projects to compliment BAU tasks and with having a strong team of qualified accountants covering Financial Control side, have the time and capacity to focus more on driving operational andcommercial improvement.A basic salary of £85,000 to £105,000 + Car Allowance and Sizable Bonus give a realistic OTE of £140k+
