Job Description

Main purpose of jobWorking with groups of local people in and around small towns across the Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire, this role will both organise and mobilise members of the public to take actions supportive of overseas aid and international development, including the climate crisis. As part of a team of organisers, you will build an active local community presence to support the Campaigns aims in key locations across England. The ideal candidate will be based in the northern midlands region of England, have excellent interpersonal skills, excellent organisation and logistical skills and a strong commitment to the aims of the Campaign.Main responsibilities

  • Creating new and active community groups in specified locations, building and maintaining excellent working relationships with local activists and other community groups
  • Research and analysis of key locations
  • Holding meetings and events designed to engage with local audiences, leading and chairing meetings as required. Support Campaign Coordinator with sourcing venues and budget management
  • Maintaining social media channels (Facebook) with the support of the Campaign Coordinator
  • Monitoring and recording output metrics and measuring impact within an agreed monitoring, evaluation and learning framework and collaborating with working group colleagues as required
  • Person specification
  • Experience of field organising and working with community groups, social movements or in local charity fundraising
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, specifically relating to members of the public, especially recently retired volunteers or activists
  • Lived experience of local communities and demonstrable knowledge of specific local areas in: High Peak, Penistone & Stockbridge, Colne Valley, Dewsbury, Wakefield, Ashfield, Bolsover, Bassetlaw, Rother Valley, Don Valley. A driving licence and your own vehicle is essential due to the location and nature of the role
  • Leadership and/or coaching skills and a track record of engaging activists
  • Experience of managing staff.
  • Experience of working in a communications or advocacy role.
  • A developed understanding of the key issues and themes within international development.
