About BradstowBradstow School is looking for dedicated people to start their career in Social Care. Our Residential Support Worker position does not require any previous experience and you will be trained by our in-house trainers in a nationally recognised NVQ level 3award. This position will provide you with all the experience you need to develop. We pride ourselves on developing staff to become Keyworkers with the opportunity to progress to management positions as well.Bradstow is a creative and unique residential school for children between the ages of 5 & 19. It is situated in 13 acres of parkland just a few hundred metres from the sandy beaches of Broadstairs. We seek to meet the needs of children and young people withautism and severe learning difficulties with associated behaviours that may be challenging. We have achieved national recognition for our developments in Communication and Behaviour ManagementWaking Night Attendant - The Role:As Waking Night Attendant, you will remain awake in order to be responsible for the supervision and care of the students at night, particularly ensuring that nighttime routines follow pre-agreed strategies and procedures.When not undertaking these duties, the post holder will be required to undertake various housekeeping’ activities at the request of the Line Manager.Key Responsibilities;
  • To maintain students’ health and safety
  • To contribute to and implement personal care programmes overnight
  • To be a full team member of the assigned childcare team, undertaking such housekeeping duties as required
  • To carry out agreed student - related routines and procedures, and implement their IEP and support plans overnight
  • To record events, routine activities as required and incidents using the appropriate documentation and files Participate in pupil planning and evaluation as and when appropriate
  • To commit to training, induction and continuous professional development
  • To be aware of the school policies and to act in accordance with them
  • To work in accordance with the Councils Equal Opportunities Policy
  • To be fully aware of and understand the duties and responsibilities arising from the Children’s Act 2004 and Working Together in relation to child protection and safeguarding children and young people.
  • To ensure that the line manager is made aware and kept fully informed of any concerns which the worker may have in relation to safeguarding and/or child protection.
Waking Night Attendant - What we need from you:
  • Two years’ experience of working with children and young people with Additional Educational Needs and Challenging Behaviour and the member of staff will be required to commit to achieving the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare within 2 years of beginningemployment at the school.
OR
  • Eighteen months as above, plus an appropriate qualification gained in further education, e.g. NVQ Level 3, NNEB or BTEC National Certificate.
As well as;
  • Must be willing to commit to completing Understanding Safe Handling of Medication Level 2 Knowledge
  • Ability to demonstrate the needs of children and young people with Learning Difficulties, Autism and Challenging Behaviour.
  • A calm, responsible and mature outlook on life together with the ability to work alone and deal with difficult situations.
  • Ability to follow students’ IEP’s (Individual Education Plan) and support plans.
  • Ability to contribute to the team’s record keeping.
  • Ability to demonstrate written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to take part in the daily routines of the school.
  • Ability to demonstrate the skills required to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A willingness to contribute to the life of the school in general including major School / parents events on a weekend
