Amazing PeopleThe NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) Tissue Services are an integral part of the NHS. Our Tissue Donation Programme saves and radically improves hundreds of lives every year.You will be educated to HND level, NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Health Care Science or relevant science field and/or equivalent knowledge of science or health care work, acquired through formal training and experience.You will also need to be able to retrieve multiple tissues from newly deceased donors. You must have good IT and organisational skills as you will have considerable administrative duties. A valid driving license is essential.The base for this post will be Barnsley Blood Centre - Unit D, Capitol Way, Dodworth, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, S75 3FG.The normal working hours for this permanent role are full time,37.5 hours per week, split between “day” shifts (08:00 – 16:00) and “late” shifts (12:00 – 20:00) Monday – Friday and “late” shifts on a weekend. There may be a need to work beyond the specified end-of-shift time, depending upon work levels on any given day.You will start work with NHSBT as a Retrieval Assistant (Band 3 - £19,737 to £21,142 per annum) and will then progress to Senior Retrieval Assistant (Band 4 – £21,892 to £24,157 per annum), following successful completion of your training – we anticipate this will take 6-12 months.We offer a dynamic and friendly working environment where teamwork is highly valued.
