Job Description

A leading Electronics Manufacturing business in Diss are looking to appoint an experienced Electronics Hardware Engineering Manager on a full time, permanent basis.This is a crucial role for the business and its plans moving forward, of which the successful Electronics Hardware Engineering Manager will take full responsibility in managing the Hardware Team to deliver electronic hardware solutionsthat meet customer requirements.As part of this role, youll develop and support the Hardware team to handle all hardware issues within production and from customers.Responsibilities of the Electronics Hardware Engineering Manager:

  • Manage and lead the Hardware team as they deliver projects, ensuring work is to a high standard and fits with the wider needs of the company.
  • Recruit and manage the professional development of the Hardware team, enabling them to contribute effectively to the wider business.
  • Work with Project Managers in delegating work to the Hardware team, monitoring progress, supporting and identifying early if targets are likely to be missed.
  • Allocate work to the Hardware team in the form of suitable specifications, to enable them to design & deliver hardware solutions.
  • Work with customers & suppliers, ensuring requirements are understood and met.
  • Investigate returned products to establish root cause of failure and implement appropriate corrective actions and monitor failure patterns to proactively prevent failures happening again.
  • Oversee hardware design directly, specifically on complex projects.
  • Oversee the hardware processes, ensuring they fit within company procedures.
  • Research new technologies for possible incorporation into the businesses products.
  • Ensure all work carried out is accurately documented.
Knowledge, skills and experience of the Electronics Hardware Engineering Manager are:
  • People management skills, with an ability to lead, inspire & motivate a multidisciplinary team.
  • An understanding and experience of design and working of electronic hardware.
  • Experience in RF circuit and Antenna design, from MHz to GHz.
  • Good understanding of RF communication protocols and strategy.
  • Knowledge of industry standards around electronic hardware
  • Experience of complete hardware design process - from concept development and specifications, through to testing and production.
  • An ability to understand causes of faults within a system.
Desirable Skills for the Electronics Hardware Engineering Manager position:
  • Use of the Altium software
  • Some understanding of embedded software
  • Degree in Electronics Engineering.
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • ILM Level 5
  • IPC 610 G
  • IPC 2221 Standards on Generic PCB design
  • IPC 6013 Standards on LCP & Polyimide Flex Circuit Design
