The Payroll Engineering teams are responsible for building, maintaining and operating payroll features which will define theXero Payroll experience for multiple jurisdictions.Day to day the pods are involved in a wide variety of tasks - building new functionality, maintaining existing services and investigating reported issues.Working closely with the team leads, product owners and other stakeholders, you will be keeping the team focused and aligned, ensuring we are building features that provide the best experience for our customers.We are an established team, always looking to grow and develop. Joining our team will give you a chance to influence our growth; ranging from how we work, to setting expectations around what "good" looks like.You, and your role:As our Engineering Manager, youll focus on providing people, team and technical leadership for your pod(s) in the UK, whilst coordinating and driving work in collaboration with remote teams based in Australia & New Zealand. Working with the broader payrollteam, youll help us build a world class software development practice by: utilising your exemplary and inspiring mentorship and leadership ability to drive high performing teams, whilst promoting an environment for people to experiment, learn and grow.Ensuring a clear vision for the payroll engineering team, and a roadmap to achieve it; aligning it to Xeros global engineering vision. Pragmatic and professional enough to deal with legacy/monolith but knows what good looks like and knows howto drive a roadmap towards Engineering excellence.The tech stackWe use a lot of C# in .NET Core and .NET Framework. We use React and some Knockout (but we are working on migrating away from it!) . We use a lot of SQL Server and some no-SQL DynamoDB. We love AWS as an infrastructure partner, and TeamCity for our buildsand deployments.We work in an agile way and are constantly refining how we can best live those principles to continuously deliver software that delights our customers and demonstrates our value. We strive for engineering excellence!We incorporate principles like SOLID, concepts like Domain Driven Design, proven and emerging design patterns, strong testing practices like TDD and automation, with collaborative team environments.
