Job Description

About the roleWe have a new role in DS Smith Packaging for a Technical Account Manager, giving you the opportunity to further develop our working relationship and technical strategy with Nestle, a key customer of ours. You will be part of a dedicated account team witha remit that covers new and existing product development, product and process innovation, as well as quality and continuous improvement.Your role will focus on ensuring we are meeting the growing operational and quality demands of our customers, to defend current business while at the same time creating value for the company and identifying opportunities to win new business.Other responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing and coordinating all customer related activities carried out by other DS Smith specialists (e.g. design, packaging testing, supply chain analysis, quality, product safety & sustainability).
  • Aligning and driving technical resource towards common goals
  • Supporting KPIs by putting plans in place to reach objectives (MOVC, Value tool, visits)
  • Promote technical best practice across accounts and between functions including commercial, design, manufacturing, quality, support services, suppliers and customer operations
  • Engaging with customer technical communities, establishing strong relationships that lead to collaborative working
  • Leading and participating in customer Impact Centre and PackRight Centre sessions
  • Identifying and promoting manufacturing techniques that can contribute to improved packaging line efficiencies, reducing customer complaints and supporting our innovation agenda
This role will involve significant travel to mostly UK destinations, and occasionally to Europe.About you
  • Experience working in a Design/Technical function, working cross functionally within a fast-paced environment and delivering strong levels of success
  • Passionate about delivering a service that adds quantifiable value to both the company and customers operations
  • Good technical experience within packaging development with a deep understanding of packaging systems, analytical and problem-solving techniques
  • Excellent understanding of customer packing operations
  • Understanding of FMCG and E-commerce supply chains and the consequences on the packaging requirements
  • Strong knowledge of artwork/repro/print/production/finishing processes
  • Excellent appreciation of material limitations/solutions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
  • Competence in ArtiosCAD, Optim/OneA, Cape, MS Word, MS Excel & PowerPoint CAD, CAG).

Location:Youll be required to be on site at Nestle several days per week, so Yorkshire/Derbyshire is preferred.
