Job Description

Role: Head of QSHESalary: £60,000 + car allowanceLocation: DerbyshireType: PermanentOverview2Fawcett are recruiting for a Head of Quality, Safety Health and Environtal role for a business based in based in Derbyshire. As Head of QSHE you will be Working to the annual QSHE Plan, implement company health and safety procedures and industry best practiceacross the Rail sector for Health and Safety. Ensure compliance with the company values and Health and Safety policies, assuring compliance with current HSE legislation as well as compliance with our customers policies and procedures. Build effective relationshipswith colleagues throughout the organisation at all levels and across the country as well as with the company suppliers and clients promoting effective Health and Safety initiatives.The Role & Responsibilities of the Head of QSHE

  • Ensure that the Health and Safety of all sectors are maintained at an exceptional level with zero accidents and incidents
  • Promotion of Health, Safety and Wellbeing to colleagues, contractors and suppliers, managing the development of risk assessments and safe working methods
  • Support the ongoing achievement of Health and Safety accreditations and audits, taking the lead on Rail specific accreditations including RISQS and Principal Contractors Licence
  • Highlight and manage any change to industry Health and Safety legislation and brief as appropriate
  • Provide professional support and guidance on Principal Contractor Licence matters including engagement with the Health & Safety Executive etc
  • Lead on all Rail sector accident and incident investigations including liaison with clients and contractors
  • Manage Health and Safety reporting throughout the Rail sector, highlighting potential trends, recommending and implementing interventions as required
  • Develop a programme and ensure that all necessary site audits and safety tours are completed in accordance with our audit schedule and manage the approvals process for Work Package Plans and Task Briefing Sheets
  • Provide Environmental advice as required
Requirements of the Head of QSHE
  • 2 Years minimum experience as a Health & Safety professional
  • Rail industry experience is essential
  • RISQS and Principal Contractors Licence is desirable
  • NEBOSH/IEMA Certificate or equivalent
  • NEBOSH/IEMA Diploma or equivalent
  • IOSH/IEMA membership (desired)
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint software.
  • Preparation of legal documents such as risk assessment, permit applications, proofs of evidence, incident investigations, witness statements etc
