Job Description

Location: PinxtonSalary: £28,000-£30,000 depending on experienceSummary:A logistics company based in Nottinghamshire are expanding and looking to hire a European Transport Planner to assist their Operations team with route planning around Europe. This company works with a lot of well-recognised brands and have over 100 vehiclesin their fleet.This is very much a hands-on role involving the management of the operation through extensive client and customer liaison. This is an extremely fast paced, ever changing environment where two days are never the same. This role requires a combination ofcost, operational and financial awareness to be able to make decisions based on realistic and timely data, to ensure the most cost-effective and customer centric solutions are delivered.Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning work and allocating drivers - updating and reviewing the planning systems used within the business to ensure that they are constantly accurate and reflect the current situation
  • Evaluate whether the use of subcontractors is appropriate for different situations and assess the impact of the options on cost and profitability
  • Liaise regularly with the Operational and Financial teams to ensure planned solutions are viable and achievable both practically and financially
  • Proactively seek new work from existing clients and give spot prices for a diverse range of freight movements
  • Provide cost modelling and quotes for client tenders
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on changes in legislation and best practice in relation to UK and European transport
Key Skills/Experience:
  • Strong communication
  • Knowledge of driver compliance rules and regulations
  • Good IT skills
  • Previous experience of working within a 3rd party haulage environment
  • Knowledge of UK and European geography
  • International CPC desirable but not essential
