Job Description

This School provides support for boys aged 10-19 with a variety of social, emotional and mental health challenges. The learning environment and facilities here allow students to access a varied curriculum in a calm and nurturing environment and the team strives to give every student the confidence and opportunities to achieve their full potential.Whilst previous experience of working in an SEN/SEMH environment would be desirable, excellent teaching skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important.The main purpose of the role:As part of the senior leadership team, you will get the opportunity to have ownership over a creative, dynamic, innovative, and engaging remit. You will take a proactive approach to ensuring effective positive behaviour strategies and attendance strategies are in place for pupils in order for them to thrive. You will support the senior leadership team in ensuring delivery of the national curriculum is to the highest standards and in a way that maximises children’s achievement and ability to develop.The school is looking for a leader that understands the importance of positive behaviour strategies and trauma informed practice and has a clear vision on how to develop this across the school. As a small school there is a small team and you will work closely with all stakeholders and be a key member of the team.This is a rapidly growing school, and they are looking for a passionate, dedicated and forward thinking leader who will play a pivotal part in taking the school towards outstanding.Duties: You must expect to diversify and lend a hand wherever is required.Successful candidate qualities:

  • Qualified Teacher status (QTLS or QTS)
  • Proven track record of excellent creative and structured teaching within relevant key stages and/or special needs environment.
  • Leadership of a significant area or phase or inclusion, including responsibility for raising standards across the whole school
  • Understanding of the implementation of ASD intervention and support strategies (TEACCH or other similar).
  • Experience of holding responsibility for and turning policy into effective and successful practice
  • Successful management of complex scenarios and conflict resolution
  • Understanding of the implementation of ASD intervention and support strategies (TEACCH or other similar).
  • Experience of OFSTED inspection and following action planning.
  • Experience of curriculum leadership action planning and resource management
  • Evidence of contributing effectively to the work of the senior leadership team.
