Job Description

Empowering Learning require an SEMH Teaching assistant to work 1-1 with a secondary student in a SEN school in the Barnsley area. The role is 5 days a week Monday to Friday 8.30am-15.30pm but may become permanent for the right person.The school is very focused on supporting students on their learning journey.

  • Hold a level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant qualification and experience
  • Previous experience as working as a SEN teaching assistant or support assistant
  • Be responsive, flexible and sensitive to the differing needs of pupils. Including those with SEND
  • To support a student with SEMH and PMLD needs
  • Experience of behaviours that challenge
  • Be able to work 1-1 and with small groups
  • Communicate effectively in a variety of situations
  • Ability to de escalate situations
  • Work flexibly with a commitment to continuity and quality of education. Be focused and driven to ensure that all children fulfil their potential.
  • Be able to communicate effective

  • Have a DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one
