Job Description

Laser Operator - DartonSalary: £26,000Location: DartonJob Reference: DBLASEROPDARTWe are currently looking for an experienced Laser Operator to join the biggest materials distributor and service provider in the western world.The main objective of this role is to operate a laser cutting machine in a safe manner.Package Details:

  • £26,000 per annum
  • Rotating shifts 0600-1400/1400-2200 Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsibility for all aspects of Laser cutting including set up and operation of various machines/controls, utilise tooling, fixtures and gauges to produced quality components within expected efficiencies and timescales
  • Ensuring that all products are handled in the most appropriate manner to eliminate any damage, or health hazards, in accordance with Health and Safety regulations and Thyssenkrupp Materials Handling and Storage Procedures
  • Promote continuous improvement processes to maximise stock productivity and minimise waste in all operational processes
  • Ensure conformance to Health and Safety operating regulations for employees, visitors and self-whilst engaged on company business
  • General warehouse duties
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Experience of fully running and operating CO2 Laser cutting machines
  • Understanding of materials handling for all processed products in accordance with Health and Safety regulations
  • Self-motivated, reliant, diligent, analytical and numerate
  • PC Literate
  • The ability to understand and use all types of measuring equipment
  • Ability to be trained and understand being a business approved stamp holder
  • Desirable experience, skills and knowledge:
  • Experience of Bystronic Laser cutting machine centres
  • Formal engineering qualification or engineering apprenticeship
  • Understanding and operating control systems
  • Understanding of Health and Safety at Work legislation and its practical application
  • Understanding of the full scope of quality processes applicable to handling of materials
  • Ability to use all relevant areas of manufacturing computer based control system and all its supporting requirements
  • Experience in waterjet cutting and/or routing
  • Current counterbalance and reach truck mechanical handling licenses
  • Machine Maintenance skills applicable to the type of equipment operated
  • A working knowledge of computer windows based applications
