Children and Young People’s Support Workers - Day StaffDartington, Nr Totnes£9.34 - £9.98 per hourFull-time/part-time hours availableOur client is looking for amazing Support Workers to join the team at their 10 bed Residential & Shortbreak Home in Dartington.Children and young people with learning disabilities and their families are at the heart of everything our client does, and they want every person they support to have a great life with excellent outcomes. They couldn’t achieve that without all the great Support Workers who join their care teams. It all starts with you!There is no such thing as a typical’ Support Worker. Staff come from lots of different backgrounds, people with little or no experience but want a job that involves helping people, those who want a change of career, as well as experienced Support Workers. The one thing that links them all together is their desire to work with young learning disabled people, make their lives better and help them to learn something new or take a further step towards independence. Our client’s Support Workers certainly don’t see what they do as just another job’.No two days will be the same as you will get involved in a variety of different tasks and activities while helping young people to learn the skills they need to live the life they choose.As a full-time Support Worker on days, you will work a pattern of 2 days on, 2 days off and as shifts are planned in advance, you will know exactly what your work pattern is so that you can plan your life outside of work. A typical term-time day shift is 07:00 - 10:00 and 14:30 - 21:30 and during school holidays and at the weekends, the shift is usually 08:00 - 20:00. Part-time shifts are also available.A typical weekday night shift is 21:15 - 09:15 during term time and on Saturdays and during school holidays it is 20:00 - 08:00 with a working a pattern of 3 nights on, 3 nights off.Part-time hours are agreed at the point of job confirmation and discussed within interview. Bank staff are able to work with us to choose their hours to meet business needs within standard shift patterns.Ideally, you will have previous experience in this sector and hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent). Though this qualification is by no means essential, a willingness to gain the qualification within 2 years is required.
