Job Description

FMC are currently supporting an outstanding opportunity to be part of our highly skilled Engineering team that is helping to revolutionise the way in which products are transported. This includes the World’s most precious resources - food, medicine, and people. Historically products have been kept fresh in transit with the use of unregulated diesel engines. FMC’s client has found an alternative that is cheaper, greener, and more effective than the current competition. Each switch from a diesel engine to the new product is the equivalent of taking 80 cars off the road.The roleFMC are looking for a Lead Electrical Systems Engineer. Reporting to the Head of Control and Electrical Systems, you will have technical leadership responsibility for electrical system development within Controls and Electrical Systems team. You will work in a team to design and develop electrical systems for the complex and technically advanced Clean Cold Power systems incorporating hardware and software systems. You will have responsibility for execution of work packages and tasks within the company’s main projects, relating to the design, development, prototyping and testing of our products and technology. This will require a mix of practical and analytical skills and may include working off-site and with customers. Your primary responsibility will be to lead the design activities of electrical system including high and low voltage systems, mule prototypes and circuit boards. These activities will be:The requirementsYou will demonstrate/possess the following:

  • Solid understanding of whole system/product development cycle activities and ability to achieve cost, weight, and technical targets within specified timescales
  • Experience with CAN bus system design, development, and testing
  • Requirement management and definition: Experience in capturing system requirements specification and analysis for electrical systems (Software, Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical integrated system)
  • Experience in developing embedded systems development, demonstrate knowledge of implementation of verification and validation strategies
  • Design, development, prototyping and testing of electrical distribution systems
  • System architecture definition and requirements capture, communications interface development including vehicle networks using FlexRay / CAN / LIN protocols.
