Job Description

Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a Deputy Housing Manager based in Croydon.Our client is an innovative Christian charity that provides specialist housing, care and support services in the community, and targeted advice in prisons, for people seeking to live crime-free.As a Deputy Housing Manager, you will assist in the management of a stable and effective service in the community to support clients, to comply and model pro-social behaviour including some who are managed under MAPPA arrangements, accommodated via our Ministryof Justice contract to live crime free and thrive independently. You will help to deliver service outcomes in line with our business plans and to promote our mission and values as a Christian Group.Location: CroydonSalary: £32,123 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting Allowance) plus pension and excellent benefitsHours: 40 hours per week, some of which will be unsocial.Contract: PermanentThe post may include some travel and overnight stops can be expected and may require you to work from a different location from time to time.Main duties and responsibilities

  • To role model the Christian faith within the workplace to staff members and clients and to demonstrate Christ-centred values externally to suppliers and stakeholders.
  • To maintain and develop a Christ-centred culture, values and reputation and to demonstrate strategic Christian leadership by creating an environment that fosters teamwork, promotes diversity and which supports and respects all stakeholders
  • To understand in detail and act upon the ex-offending and restrictive licence conditions (of some) of the applicants and the letting process in line with our procedure.
  • You will be required to assist in the management of the referral process in order to achieve agreed occupancy/target levels. To work with police and probation along with the local authority housing department in order to ensure that the prospective clientsmeet all of the service and statutory criteria
  • To assist in feeding back to both applicants and referrers upon the selection and de-selection of applications for accommodation.
  • To lead in the assessment and management of risk including the operation of physical and situational security measures to control the level of risk posed to the public, staff and others in relation to the referral and letting of properties
  • To supervise and help support the development of staff as directed by your line manager and to assist in the recruitment, training and supervision of the staff team. To assist in the allocation of tasks to staff in order to achieve the key performance indicatorsof the project.
Person Specification
  • A practising and professing Christian, able to interpret the Christian Mission of the Trust. A knowledge and understanding of the Christian doctrines. To have an active prayer life and be willing to pray for and with a range of stakeholders for the Groupinternally and externally.
  • QCF Level 3 or 4 (or equivalent) in Health and Social Care or commitment to work for, and obtain, a qualification deemed relevant to the post
  • Numerate, literate and analytical with attention to details to be able to develop and present records and reports including budgets in Excel.
  • Familiar with computer packages including Word, Excel, email and allied computer skills.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in supported housing, care or voluntary sector.
  • Good understanding of the issues affecting ex-offenders/ substance misusers.
  • Able to bring leadership, enthusiasm and creativity to the development of the service.
  • Demonstrable experience of implementing housing tenancy legislation and benefits.
  • Able to work in a challenging and demanding environment.
  • Good verbal and communication skills.
  • Understanding of issues in implementing equal opportunities within services.
  • Good understanding of health and safety issues and procedures.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of a wide variety of housing issues.
  • Aware of the Home and Communities Regulatory Framework.
Other
  • You will need to be able to occasionally attend the Project at nights, weekends, and bank holidays in line with the on-call rota.
  • Be willing to undertake an enhanced DBS with Adults Barred check which must be satisfactory to the organisation.
  • Will have a full UK Driving License and have access to a vehicle.
