Job Description

We have an exciting, multi-faceted position for a Site Operations ManagerYou will be responsible for matters relating to the operational effectiveness of the General Engineering and Maintenance tasks; Jetty Operations & Waterfront Support; Warehousing (including Explosives stores) and for ensuring requisite Safety, Security &Compliance standards are maintained.Reporting directly to the Head of Establishment, you will continually encourage and develop a strong team ethos and shall lead, motivate, and manage 4 x direct reports, and through them, a multi-skilled workforce of 20 x operatives.Youll be encouraged to grow and develop personally and professionally and will be provided with support and advice to do so. Youll also be expected to network, learn from and work with like-minded professional colleagues in wider Defence Munitions andDE&S.Please note that due to the nature of the position you will be required to work 100% from site.After appropriate training and experiential learning, you will be expected to undertake rostered Duty Control Officer and Duty Officer in Charge duties, which see a dedicated 24/7 presence and on-call system maintained. These rostered commitments also attractadditional payments at enhanced hourly rates.Youll do all of this within a site of outstanding natural beauty, with first rate facilities, on-site gym and a culture of inclusiveness and teamworking. Responsibilities for Operations Manager In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead and manage the site Operations team
  • Co-ordinate the deployment of personnel and MHE resources to achieve the planned outputs of the Operations Division
  • Provide SME advice and direction to site related engineering, maintenance, and warehousing outputs
  • Co-ordinate the safe and compliant delivery of logistics activities at the Crombie deep water jetty, road transfer facility and throughout the Explosive and Non-Explosive warehousing footprint
  • Contribute to the overall business change programme including driving behavioural change
  • Support the wellbeing of staff and encourage the development of talent within the team
  • Risk Assessment and Management
  • Promotion of the sites positive safety culture, through initiatives and wellbeing
Person specification To be successful with your application, youll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:
  • Hold full UK driving licence - Due to the size and geography of the site and tasks involved
  • Minimum HND or equivalent in an Engineering or Logistics discipline, or equivalent in work experience
  • Experience of leading a team and working collaboratively to achieve agreed outcomes
  • Demonstrable evidence of communication skills and the ability to comfortably deal with colleagues at all levels
  • Background of working in a high hazard environment
It would also be great if you can demonstrate any of the following desirable criteria:
  • Membership of an appropriate Professional Institute
  • Adept in monitoring and managing Risk and ability to demonstrate an As Low As Reasonably Practical (ALARP) approach
  • Proficiency with IT systems and software
