Electronics EngineerPermanent job opportunity£50-£55k per annumBased in CrawleyPrivate healthcare and increased pension contributions after further qualifying period (2-3 years)33 days holiday, including UK Bank holidays.Job DescriptionThis is an expansive role with involvement in all disciplines relating to our electronic products. This will include specification and design of hardware, software, user interfaces and remote monitoring capabilities.Activities will involve, but not be limited to, the following:Specify, design, implement and maintain industrial control systems:Create specifications for embedded control systems, detailing architecture and function to meet business and customer requirements.Integrate new devices, options and functionality into existing control systems.Work with partners to implement specifications, design hardware and software for devices and control systems. Communicate ideas through schematic capture and drawings.Develop, maintain and debug embedded firmware for ARM microcontrollers in C language, using industry standard best practices including revision control.Cooperate with electrical/mechanical design engineers to integrate electronic aspects into final product.Explore ideas to increase reliability and reduce cost.Assist in the development of system user interface.Maintain, extend and evolve the Remote Monitoring Platform.Choose, test and evaluate component parts for suitability.Validate prototype equipment, produce documentation and test procedures.Build fast prototypes and define tests to evaluate concepts and ideas.Create production drawings, BOMs, test procedures and acceptance criteria.Design fixtures and equipment to ease testing in production or at subcontract manufacturers.Liaise with R&D and workshop staff to lead the test of all new hardware, software releases and control schemes prior to deployment, testing in a logical manner and documenting findings.Perform field trials of new equipment with customers as necessary and assist service department with onsite integration of more complex systems.Ensure designs and systems comply with relevant safety standards and legislation, working with QA and compliance staff where necessary.Guide equipment through formal certifications (e.g. EMC) testing.Write board level test procedures and software test cases.Support electronic and control aspects of sales, production and service:Provide expertise on technical matters to internal sales staff and directly to customers.Work with customers’ engineers on machine interfaces and integrations.Assist with the commissioning and installation of more complex or bespoke systems on site.Resolve problems reported by Service or Test, provide timely solutions and work to prevent unexpected issues. This may require visits to site as necessary.Provide expert interpretation of remote data to assist Service with fault finding and issue resolution.Work with QA to monitor product performance and perform failure analysis.Provide training to Test and Service personnel on the operation and function of new equipment.Essential Qualifications / Skills:Degree qualified (Electronics engineering, Electronics with Software or similar).Ability to read and understand Electrical/electronic/mechanical schematics, drawings and diagrams.Competent with test equipment including oscilloscopes and DVM.Strong background in designing equipment for industrial environments and processes.Strong understanding of software engineering in embedded C.Practical workshop skillsMust speak clear fluent EnglishMust be free to travel worldwide with no restrictionsBeneficial Qualifications / Skills:Work with 3phase and high voltage systems.Experience with Altium Designer and AutoCAD and Visual Studio.Experience with PHP, HTML and other web based technologies.Understanding of C#, or other high level language based on the .NET framework.
