Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quality Engineer to join our team based in Billingham. This is a full-time, permanent role and in return, you will receive a competitive salary, plus benefits.Paralloy Ltd is situated in the UK and has 3 sites - Billingham, Middlesbrough and Sheffield. The business has a worldwide presence and is a major supplier to the petrochemical market. The success of the company has been built on developingquality products in rapid lead times supported by a focused approach to customer service.As our Quality Engineer, you will ensure the complete and correct implementation of general Management System Quality requirements and contract specific requirements within the Company Foundry Business Units.To set contractspecific quality and acceptance requirements for the casting production from completion of contract review and issuing manufacturing quality plans.To ensure that robust practices and procedures are implemented in the Business Units and that these are developedthrough continuous improvement. Working with the business unit managers, supervisors and operators to promote and ensure that a Quality-focused culture is effectively implemented driving improved performance and customer satisfaction in the day to day practices.To develop and implement Quality management reporting for the business units. To participate in company wide internal auditing process.Responsibilities of our Quality Engineer:

  • To maintain and develop all business unit quality documentation in line with current requirements
  • To carry out contract review and issue / maintain contract specific quality plans to ensure that quality system and contract requirements are communicated effectively to all departments, including shop floor personnel
  • Toensure all necessary inspection & testing requirements and reporting are completed in a timely manner
  • Incorporating quality information into the system to promote the highest standard of work and compliance to quality requirements
  • Ensuring robust corrective actions are identified and implemented in response to customer complaints and internal non-conformances
  • To assist in ensuring both internal and external audits are completed effectively in line with the Company Management Systems accreditations standards and requirements, including participation in companywide internal audits
  • To promote the importance of improving our cost of quality performance throughout the company
  • Comply with internal quality control and external quality assurance procedures
  • Preparation of and leading department Quality Meetings
  • Working safely throughout all activities in line with Paralloys safety standards and procedures
What were looking for in our Quality Engineer:
  • Background in quality management, or senior quality role, in a general foundry environment (metals / machining environment may be considered)
  • Metallurgical or Foundry Technology degree would be advantageous
  • Good understanding on mechanical testing and associated metallurgical testing processes
  • Good understanding of ISO 9001 and NDE processes, particularly VI, LPE, ECT & RT
  • Experience of working with and auditing of ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 systems
  • Working Knowledge of realted ASTM & EN / ISO Standards for castings, ASME Codes and PED advantageous
  • Structured, disciplined and self-motivated, with the ability to work on own initiative, as part of a team or lead a team
  • Flexible, proactive and assertive approach in addition to strong organisational and prioritisation skills, whilst able to perform within tight deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Full working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
