Job Description

We are looking for a Production Shift Supervisor to join our team based in Billingham. This is a full-time, permanent role and in return, you will receive a competitive salary plus benefits.Paralloy Ltd is situated in the UK and has 3 sites - Billingham, Middlesbrough, and Sheffield. The business has a worldwide presence and is a major supplier to the petrochemical market. The success of the company has been built on developingquality products in rapid lead times supported by a focused approach to customer service.As our Production Shift Supervisor, you will provide line management on shift to the Machine Shop, ensuring that business targets and sales are met. You will support the operation of the machine to provide greater than 95% of the plan, ofpieces and assemblies, with less than 10% overtime and less than 9% scrap.You will also complete inspections, audits, assessments, and interviews to support business 14001 / 18001 / 9001 approvals.Responsibilities of our Production Shift Supervisor will include:

• Assisting Business Unit Manager in the day-to-day running of the Machine Shop
• Progressing orders from the planning stage through to the final stage inspection/delivery to Fabrication & Customer
• Administration of daily production schedule operating programmes for all machining/inspection/production areas
• Control shift absenteeism/holidays/first levels of discipline
• Maintaining and developing departmental health and safety. Also, attend the monthly departmental safety meeting
• Providing thorough accident/incident investigations
• Maintaining fire/ladder/eyewash station inspections, and regular area safety audits, assessments & inspections
• Maintaining operator training matrices/developing internal operator training requirements
• Liaising with maintenance manager/charge hand/operators to provide available production equipment to support the plan and benefit the OEE within the department
• Ensuring plant and equipment is monitored/measured/analysed/rectified as needed to support/benefit as above
• Liaising with quality department/casting engineer to ensure production is carried out in accordance with SOPs/PM in place
• Organising weekly shift rotas
• Control NCRs
• Ordering consumables
• Ensuring good workplace organisation (5s) is maintained across the department
• Attending daily production meetings as required
• Working safely throughout all activities in line with Paralloy safety standards and procedures

What were looking for in our Production Shift Supervisor:

• Full working knowledge of techniques such as: -
• 5s workplace organisation, QSD, cost reduction
• Full working knowledge of MS Office
• Excellent understanding of Quality issues
• Good H&S and environmental awareness
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• Self-motivated
• Ability to work on own initiative, as part of a team, lead a team
• ONC / HNC in Mechanical Engineering or Material Science (Or willing to achieve qualification)
• Apprenticeship in Mechanical or Foundry technology
• 4 years of experience in people management
• IOSH Managing Safely

Key Performance Measures:

• OEE improvements
• Scrap level reduction
• Improve good tubes cast percentage
• Reduction in accidents
• Year on year process cost reduction

Targets / Objectives:

• Achieve 95% delivery of planassemblies/pieces as needed.
• Contribute to less than 9% scrap for machine shop related yield lossincluding makeup.
• Maintain 10% under overtime % maximumthe average per month.
• Complete counselling / RTW interviews / first level disciplinary with operators
• Complete weekly / monthly safety audits for entire shop / eye wash / fire extinguisher / ladders / COSHH / JSA / Risk.
• Accident/incident reportsC/As closed on time.
