Job Description

Domus have a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and motivated Operations Manager to join a nationwide Charity that supports vulnerable adults and older people with a range of disabilities.The group has Residential Care Homes for older people with Dementia, Supported Living accommodation for adults with Learning Disabilities, as well as Housing and Homelessness services.The post holder will be responsible and accountable for the charity’s services in the local area, leading and managing the services in their locality so that they are able to offer services designed around people and their aspirations, wishes and needs.You will ensure that these services surpass contractual and regulatory requirements, encompassing the charity’s values and ethos.The successful applicant will work in close cooperation with the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Finance Officer to ensure the smooth operational running of services.This is to cover services across the South region (Oxford, Cambridge, Edgeware, Ealing, Hatfield, Enfield, Worthing & Hythe).Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Promote and sustain a culture within the services that integrates the core values of the charity, i.e. respect, compassion, hospitality, justice and trust into the day to day life of the services
  • Encourage staff teams to see every interaction with the people they serve and with each other as an opportunity to bring the values to life
  • Willingly respond to a need within the charity that is in keeping with the values of the charity that you have the skill/ability to carry out
  • Support the development of an outcomes focused approach to service delivery across all services in the locality
  • Facilitate active membership of the local management team
  • Attend all meetings as agreed by the team
  • Ensure that there are good systems in place to facilitate positive risk taking so that people who use services are safe, independent and living a life that is rich is purpose, meaning and personal fulfilment
  • Ensure that services adhere to the charity’s safeguarding policies and procedures and have in place rigorous processes for safeguarding people who use services
  • Ensure that safeguarding issues, when they occur, are dealt with in line with best practice and local authority procedures
  • Be a safeguarding lead for the locality and keep abreast of latest research and development in the field of safeguarding
  • Undertake regular quality assurance audits in all services to ensure quality and compliance is high.
  • Act as contract manager/contact person for services in the locality and meet with commissioners regularly
  • Support the Service Managers with their development of systems and processes for evaluating performance against contractual and regulatory requirements
  • Lead on all investigations related complex disciplinary/grievance issues
  • Support and advise the investigator/ investigating team to ensure that incidents are investigated effectively and that high-quality reports of findings and actions are provided in a timely way
  • Provide regular reports to the Chief Operating Officer during investigation/s
  • Inform the Chief Operating Officer where there is a possibility of media attention or significant reputational risk from an incident/concern
  • With the Service Manager’s develop, implement, monitor and evaluate the Service Development Plan for each service
  • Develop, implement, and control sustainable budgets whilst monitor and take proactive action where needed to avoid negative budgets
  • Develop and implement a workforce development plan and monitor its impact on staff and on the lives of people who use the services
  • Actively monitor progress of quality improvement activity across the locality and report on key areas of risk to the Chief Operating Officer
  • Receive monthly reports from Service Managers on the performance of services against standards and contracts.
  • Collate the information received from Service managers for the Chief Operating Officer on a monthly basis.
  • Line manage service managers in accordance with the charity’s performance management policies and procedures
  • Facilitate the development of the service managers through effective learning and development programmes and activities.
  • Lead and develop a culture of support and challenge where staff members are confident in giving and receiving feedback.
  • Attend relevant internal forums as required and maintain effective working relationships with others across the charity
  • Continuously improve the charity’s reputation for delivery of quality, person centred support and care with a view to offering services to more people in the locality
  • Person SpecificationWe are seeking candidates with a strong understanding of the health and social care sector, with demonstrable experience in a management role. Successful candidates will:
  • An in depth and up to date knowledge of service provision and the relevant standards care/support needs of relevant groups
  • A proven track record in leadership and management and achieving outcomes for people
  • Demonstrable experience in transforming service delivery
  • Strong belief in the rights of people who use services to lead and direct the services they use
  • A proven track record of budgetary management
