Job Description

Location: Covent Garden, LondonSalary: £14,256 per annum (full time equivalent £23,760 per annum)Hours of work: 21 hours per week across Tuesday, Thursday and SaturdayCITY LIT:City Lit is Londons largest provider of learning for adults, inspiring over 30,000 students a year and offering more than 5,000 courses. Working in partnership with community organisations across London, we deliverbespoke projects that support individuals and communities to enrich and improve lives.THE ROLE:This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Visual Arts as a Digital Arts Technician. You will work collaboratively with the Technician Team to provide technical support to the digital and design area, including management of the laboratory and its softwareand supporting the varied courses running throughout. You will be responsible for studio and stock maintenance, take a leading role in the manufacturing lifecycle of produced work, and prepare materials and equipment for courses by working closely with thetutor team.WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:A 3D design degree or professional equivalent qualification appropriate to the post.Ability to demonstrate an awareness of 3D design principles, creative problem solving and intellectual flexibility.Experience of working as a technician (or similar) in a digital and/or graphic studio environment including setting up, running and using 3D printers, laser cutters and their software and HD video cameras.Working knowledge of the latest versions of Adobe Premiere and Adobe Creative Cloud. Experience of file preparation for 3D printers and laser cutters, monitoring and troubleshooting, and postproduction clean up. Experience managing an organised workplace and keeping on top of equipment and materials. Ability to use digital technologies to support effective working methods.Career or hobby experience working with your hands, tools or machinery inc. finishing skills e.g. sanding, polishing, painting. General networking experience (including Wi-Fi and Ethernet setup) and troubleshooting experience with both Mac and PC platforms.Excellent IT skills including the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, e-mail, and both PC & Mac platformsDesirable:Experience in a customer facing role Familiarity with design software including Rhino and CADHOW TO APPLY:Please include a covering letter specifically addressing the attributes, skills and experience above.
