Job Description

Learning Mentor

  • Location: Coulsdon
  • Job Type: Full-time, Long term
  • Salary: £95 per day
We are seeking a dedicated Learning Mentor to support a pupil on a 1-2-1 basis at a secondary school in Coulsdon. This role is crucial for assisting a student who is transitioning from part time to full time learning. The ideal candidate will have a strongbackground in educational support and a passion for helping students overcome challenges to succeed academically as well as experience mentoring and coaching young adults with their general wellbeing. Day to Day of the role:
  • Provide targeted support to a male pupil through interventions in both group settings and dedicated 1-2-1 sessions.
  • Develop a strong rapport with the pupil to foster independent learning and self-confidence.
  • Collaborate with the pupil’s guardians to ensure consistent support both in and out of school.
  • Monitor the pupil’s progress and adapt strategies to meet their evolving educational needs.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a school environment as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or Behaviour Mentor.
  • Familiarity with additional needs and interpreting EHCP milestones.
  • A solid understanding of the UK curriculum and the ability to engage pupils with learning content.
  • A bright personality with empathy, a sense of humour, and resilience to challenging behaviour.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
