Job Description

DEPARTMENT OF NUTRITION AND DIETETICSThis post encompasses this new 0.5wte Team Leader Dietitan/Practice Education Facilitator post and 0.5wte Band 7 Surgical DietitianAre you looking for an interesting post that offers a change of direction in your career and the opportunity for you to develop skills in practice education An opportunity has arisen within the dietetics’ department in conjunction with the University of Hull and we are recruiting a registered dietitian to join us as a Practice Education Facilitator.The new MSc Nutrition and Dietetics (pre-registration) at the University of Hull is aligned with the Humber, Coast and Vale Health and Care Partnership Long Term Plan (2019-2024), which aims to increase the number of health and social care professionals within our health economy. The new MSc (pre-registration) programme has been developed with the involvement of key stakeholders and placement partners have been identified across the region. The programme will launch in 2021.You will work across sites (Castle Hill and Hull Royal Infirmary), covering practice placements for pre-registration for dietetic students. You will need good communication skills, knowledge of current practice education issues and experience of working with dietetic students.We are looking for a motivated, flexible and enthusiastic registered dietitian professional who will be able to work with students providing support and cover when required to all placement areas in the organisation.The role of the Practice Education Facilitator is to:

  • Work closely with the Programme director of the new MSc pre-registration nutrition and dietetics course at the University of Hull in the development of placement capacity and opportunities.
  • To act as a conduit between the education providers and the organisations within the Humber ,Coast and Vale region to promote effective partnership working, and be a valuable resource for staff and students requiring advice or guidance on issues relating to practice learning.
  • Ensure the Trust meets the National and Regional Standards for Healthcare Education
  • Support staff to engage in education and training for all dietetic students to meet the required standards
    • ………………...………………...……...……..ARE YOU A REMARKABLE DIETITIANThis post encompasses this new 0.5wte Band 7 Surgical Dietitian and the new 0.5wte Practice Education Facilitator post.The dietetic department is a large forward thinking department based across the acute hospital sites and is currently managed in 5 teams.This new Band 7 Specialist Surgical Dietitian post will be responsible for providing a service to inpatient and outpatient surgical patients.The Band 7 post holder will be responsible for the day to day management of the service and the staff within it and work closely with other team leaders and senior management team in supporting the wider department.The post holder will provide professional support and supervision to other surgical dietitians, as well as clinical support to the surgical wards and outpatient settings.A full competency led training and support package will be provided to ensure you can develop your clinical skills in surgery and there will also be opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills in other areas such as critical care.You will have a varied caseload of your own and support our team in the training of B and C placement students. You will also be able to develop and take part in staff teaching and support the team in audit and service developments. We have had the opportunity to present posters and abstracts at meetings such as BAPEN.Hull University Teaching Hospitals provide a comprehensive range of acute services from two hospital sites with an extended catchment population of 1.3 million people. The department has strong links with the Universities of Hull and York, Leeds Beckett University and with the British Dietetic Association.Applicants must be HCPC registered Dietitians or due to obtain registration.Reasonably provide hospital accommodation and help towards the cost of relocation may also be available.Hull is a great place to live and with a cheap cost of living your money goes further here so you can enjoy the nightlife, music festivals, restaurants, theatres and bars.
