Job Description

Job Role: Senior Quantity Surveyor - GroundworksSalary: £50,000 - £75,000 (dependent on experience)Job Type: Full-time, PermanentLocation: CambridgeStart Date: ASAPIntroduction:We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated individual to fill the position of Senior Quantity Surveyor. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire quantity surveying and tendering process for our groundworks division.Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of quantity surveying and tendering for groundworks and civil engineering projects, primarily within the housing, commercial, and industrial sectors.
  • Oversee projects from the tender stage to completion and final accounts.
  • Accurately measure and value work.
  • Efficiently allocate labour, plant, and procure materials.
  • Maintain control over procurement and labour, including subcontractors, ensuring professionalism and cost-effectiveness.
  • Serve as a key liaison between the production team and clients, conveying project specifics and requirements.
  • Collaborate with client commercial teams and attend site meetings as necessary.
  • Prepare and assess subcontract enquiries and quotations.
  • Identify and manage contract variations.
  • Prepare and submit project invoices and final accounts.
  • Cultivate and sustain relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Actively pursue new tender opportunities as part of business development efforts.
Requirements:
  • Expertise in quantity surveying and estimating for groundworks and civil engineering projects, with a focus on large-scale housing developments.
  • Team-oriented approach to delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Proficiency in various forms of contracts, particularly the JCT contract range.
  • Experience with estimating software and documentation such as Excel, Adobe, and Bluebeam.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail in commercial documentation.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Capacity to handle external and internal demands promptly.
