Grassroots currently serves the community with over 30TB of wheat data, and is the primary data store for DFWs field trialsacross the project, as well as hosting bioinformatics services, and digital repositories for publications and associated datasets. This role will be an exciting opportunity for those who wish to use their programming skills to develop interoperable open source software to facilitate effective data sharing for the UK wheat research community. This will involve developing and maintainingweb-based frontends for data ingestion, validation and visualisation, as well as data intensive backend services for processing, management, and analysis.EI is a fantastic environment to learn new skills and technologies, and for those who wish to share their skills with others we actively promote our staff to be involved with our training programmes to deliver useful courses to the community through ourAdvanced Training services. The ideal candidate:The ideal candidate will have a MSc and/or PhD in a relevant discipline, e.g., computer science, bioinformatics. The role will require experience in Linux, Python, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and Bootstrap, with experience in Django as desirable.
