Our award winning teams provide compassionate, person-centred care for older people in hospital, working closely alongside multidisciplinary colleagues.Older Peoples Medicine is one of the largest specialities in the hospital and offers many varied pathways for career progression. We offer a range of services across our four dedicated Older People’s Medicine wards including a short-stay ward, an ortho-medical ward and a ward specialising in dementia care and the UK’s first Older Peoples Emergency Department. We have a dedicated dementia support team, integrated specialist volunteers and a programme of stimulating activities and events helping to provide the best experience for our patients in hospital. Our teams love the diagnostic challenge of working with older patients with complex needs and the benefit of sharing skills with clinical colleagues from other specialities. On our OPM wards you’ll have the opportunity to develop a broad understanding of the needs of older people, build experience of the wider healthcare system and take advantage of a variety of professional development opportunities. There’s a variety of exciting projects to get involved in as we further enhance our services for the future. We’re developing our frailty pathways, building on our Dementia Friends programme and investigating new ways of providing the best care for our patients through dedicated rapid assessment clinics. We’re also a major teaching and research hospital and are passionate about developing nursing educational pathways across the department. To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focused, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence. Why NNUHJust think where your NNUH career could take you.
