The Pharmacy Department at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) is at the forefront of healthcare delivery with a strong focus on Medicines Management and innovative pharmaceutical practice. It is challenging the current professional roles resulting in a number of innovative new pharmacy led developments and new posts. This offers exciting opportunities for professional development at the leading edge for both Pharmacists and Technicians.The Pharmacy Department undertakes the ordering, receipt and supply of medicines to all wards and departments throughout the Trust and also to many external units. This includes dispensing for inpatients, outpatients and discharge medication and also ward stocks averaging around 2,500 items a day. There is also a large Preparative Services Unit manufacturing and supplying TPN, chemotherapy and radiopharmaceuticals and associated Quality Control/ Assurance laboratories.We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our large and progressive pharmacy team. You will either already be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, or be recently qualified/close to qualifying and preparing to register as a Pharmacy Technician. Please note: if you are close to qualifying as a Pharmacy Technician and are successful in gaining this post with us, you will be required to have completed 2 years’ work experience with your current employer and gain registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council before you can start work with us in this post.Pharmacy Technicians are vital members of the Pharmacy team who work closely with Pharmacists, Pharmacy Assistants and with other staff within the Trust. As a Rotational Pharmacy Technician you will gain experience and skills across a comprehensive Pharmacy Service, working between:• Dispensary: Dispensing inpatient, outpatient and community unit prescriptions alongside the Pharmacy robot. Working towards becoming an accredited final accuracy checking Technician (ACPT) and a medicines management Technician• Preparative Services: Preparation of aseptic products such as chemotherapy• Stores: Ordering, receiving, issuing and stock control of medicines to ensure supply is met within the Pharmacy, hospital and community units• Quality Services: Environmental monitoring of Preparative Services, ensuring standards relating to the quality of medicines and services within the pharmacy are maintainedYou should be committed, flexible and able to work in a busy and demanding working environment. You will need to be enthusiastic, have good communication skills and a genuine interest in developing your skills and knowledge. You will be expected to use a number of computer-based systems and therefore will have good IT skills.This post is for full time employment.
