Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Nephrology.The post is available with immediate effect. This a replacement, full time consultant appointment in response to service needs. The successful applicant would join a team of six consultant nephrologists. The team consists of five full time nephrology consultants, and one LTFT (less than full time) nephrology consultant.The nephrology service covers a population of just over 850,000. The hub of the service is at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with one satellite unit at Cromer Hospital in North Norfolk.The acute nephrology service has in-patient beds based on the dedicated renal ward: Langley. Acute dialysis can be provided 24 hours per day on the ward, and we also deliver non-haematological plasma exchange. Percutaneous renal biopsies (both native and transplant) and insertion of temporary and tunneled dialysis lines are also performed on Langley ward. The hospital has a large intensive care unit (with provision for haemofiltration) and high dependency unit, which is currently undergoing expansion, as well as excellent support services.We also manage the largest purpose-built offsite dialysis unit in the United Kingdom – Norfolk and Norwich Kidney Center (NNKC) which is approximately 2 miles away from the hospital.
