Job Description

SSCL require a Finance Team Leader to join our SSCL Police sector, Record to Report Team.You will be supervising a small team and performing key activities that will ensure the successful delivery of key performance indicators and service level agreements.The scope of responsibilities is wide ranging and requires someone who can lead, co-ordinate and motivate staff to deliver a great customer service and has experience of being the first point of contact for Clients.So, if you have finance experience and the determination to succeed then we need to hear from you!We do have a hybrid working policy so with this in mind, it would be usual for you to be in the office in Newport 2 days a week and then working from home the rest of the week!What you will be doing:

  • You will be immersed into everything from period end processing, key balance Sheet, control account reconciliations, budgeting and forecasting, reporting to query handling.
  • In addition, the scope of the role requires working closely with all SSCL Police Service Delivery teams to support their key performance deliverables, ensuring the best service and experience is provided, to the Client at all times.
  • Manage and schedule own and team work to required timescales and to achieve performance targets
  • Motivate, lead, and develop the team and encourage them through effective communication
  • Ensure that agreed processes, standards, timescales, and quality requirements are adhered to
  • Raise any issues of service incidents in a timely manner to ensure management are informed and ensuring incidents are fully investigated and resolved
  • Follow regulatory requirements where applicable and collect and provide statistical data/reports, as the need arises
  • Communicate directly with the Client when required, to ensure all key deliverables of the service are met.

  • Numerate, able to process complex data and highly developed user of MS Office tools
  • Experience of delivering a high-quality customer service in a professional manner
  • Articulate and able to develop effective working relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Effective team player who displays commitment and flexibility
  • Knowledge of the principles of financial management and control
  • Experience of working under pressure to deliver against a range of issues and deadlines simultaneously; and ability to continuously improve performance and deliver change at pace.
It would be great if you had:
  • Experience of working with relevant systems e.g. Oracle
  • Police / Public /Local Authority (Gov) sector experience
  • Shared Service Transactional Finance Delivery experience
  • Proven track record of delivering against performance targets
  • Understanding and knowledge of audit controls and standards
  • AAT qualified or part qualified (or equivalent)/qualified by experience
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering continuous improvement initiatives and/or small projects.
