If you are up for a challenge and are willing to work hard, working with us will giveyou a fulfilling and varied career.Although our offices are based in Newport and Cardiff, we offer 100% flexible working to welcome applications from across the UK!The Migration team migrate client portfolios into and offboard out of Target platforms and as such are responsible for maintaining the Migration tools and platforms required to complete these tasks.This role provides a key contact point during the migration lifecycle and will work closely with project managers and stakeholders to understand and refine requirements and communicate complex issues effectively to development team members. They will interactwith clients and gather requirements, work in a fast paced environment with time sensitive projects and meet tight deadlines to allow clients to move to Target systems with minimal impact on operations. The migration engineer would be a main contact pointfor onboards/offboards as allocated and will provide input into the bid process if required, as well as providing input to the estimating process for each element of the migration.Other responsibilities include:

• Maintain a primary relationship with the Product Consultancy & BA teams. Attend requirement walkthroughs and ensure that the solution requirements consider the data migration elements fully. Review specifications and feedback comments.

• Set the technical scope of the business requirements. Ensure Consultants kept up to date on key changes to migration strategy.
• Lead on migration workshops on allocated projects, ensure that the client has a full understanding of the content and milestones needed when populating the Migration Core Schema.
• Maintain a primary relationship with the Centrac Development team. Attend solution walkthroughs where applicable and ensure that the solution documents consider the data migration elements fully. Review specifications and feedback comments.
• Work with project managers, identify the technical work streams and provide input to project implementation planning.
• Advocate the application of Targets quality management system as appropriate.
• Perform development tasks/activities and contribute to development projects as required.
• Act as main point of contact for any issues encountered on allocated projects during key implementations. Feed into testing defect triage process, accessing the severity and resolution of any data migration related issue during key implementations.
• Maintain awareness of Target Data Security responsibilities, ensuring all data removed from Data Migration platforms and systems within appropriate timelines following go-live. Ensure data is not retained beyond required use.

Youre someone who:

• Is familiar with Data Analysis/profiling techniques
• Has knowledge of risk and issue identification and management.
• Understands how Data Mapping and Data Transformation fits into the Migration process
• Has extensive experience with the software engineering life cycle for development and the concepts and practices required to implement effective IT solutions.
• Has extensive experience working in a commercial environment.
• Is able to converse with internal & external stakeholders at all levels.
• Has strong relevant development and technical skills.
• Has experience working with Agile development methodology
• Understands the technical architecture and relevant technologies which underpin Targets products

Youll ideally have the following skills:

• Free-format RPG syntax.
• RPG ILE coding concepts
• I-Series knowledge/experience
• Advanced SQL (scripting, performance indexing, data analysis)
• SSIS (stored procedures, agent jobs)
• SSRS
• Powershell
• Redgate
• Aldon source management
• JIRA for issues management

Desirable experience:

• Educated preferably to degree level or equivalent, preferably with a computing based discipline to HND (merit or distinction) or equivalent
• Experience working in Finance and/or Insurance industry sectors.
• Centrac specific product knowledge, understanding of (Iseries) database tables and use within the product.
