Job Description

Transport PlannerAn immediate start is available for an experienced Transport Planner to join our clients team inCoalville. Thisrole is based on a basic50hour week workingMondayFriday between 08:00/09:00 to 18:00/19:00.Your main responsibility will be to arrange the delivery of the customers product on time and in full using the most cost effective means possible and best use of available resources, whilst complying with Transport Legislation and Health & Safety.Transport Planner Duties:

  • Ability to prioritise work load and deal with a demanding transport plan, planning for multiple customers ranging from Day 1 for 2 upto Day 1 for 5
  • Liaise in a suitable time frame with both the Driver and the Customer in relation to delays and possible issues with delivery.
  • Develop back haul lanes with both Menzies depots and 3rdparty customers whilst maintaining fleet utilization.
  • Complete a late load report in line with operational requirements and deadlines and ensure loads meet safety standards.
  • Manage and understand Working Time Directive Compliance and comply with all Transport legislation.
  • Ability to cover loads with Sub-Contractors and negotiate rates
  • Be able to utilise the extensive Menzies network, working with other depots to cover outbound loads and secure reloads to ensure we are planning as efficiently and effectively as possible.
  • Understanding of associated costs.
  • Reviewing and understanding of vehicle earnings and revenue reports.
  • Ability to forge excellent working relationships with Stakeholders.
  • Briefing and liaising with drivers to ensure the plan is achievable (finish times and start times)
  • Ability to explain efficiencies and plans to Management and Supervisors
Transport Planner Requirements:
  • Experience of working in a busy Transport office
  • Knowledge of Drivers Hours, Tachograph and WTD legislation
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement.
  • Good standard of education and IT literate
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety
  • Commercial understanding
  • Knowledge of transport systems such as ESP, GTS, Transporeon and Blujay
