Job Description

Retail Director, £60-70,000 + benefits including 5.6 weeks’ holiday, discounts at Tout’s stores, pharmacy and Subways, on-going training and personal development, team events, pension etc.The Role: This is a newly created role and as a pivotal member of the senior management team the Retail Director (Head of Retail) will have the opportunity to develop, innovate and influence, being part of something special and appreciated for it. Reporting into the Managing Director you will be responsible for running the convenience store, fuel and Subway side of the business, currently operating in 2 locations in Somerset with a turnover of c.£20 million. With 2 more large local centres about to be built and significant plans to expand, this turnover is projected to increase to over £40 million in the next 3 years.The successful Retail Director (Head of Retail) will be a motivational leader with the proven ability to inspire, coach and develop a winning team. You will be creative, keen to challenge and push the boundaries to drive innovative improvements across the stores. You will be responsible for sourcing and proactively developing strong relationships with local suppliers, fostering a quality relationship to deliver mutual success. You will also work to enhance the company brand within the local community, delivering a unique convenience shopping experience where the business purpose, Everyone Leaves Happier’, is consistently achieved.This is the most exciting of times for a driven and inspirational Retail Director (Head of Retail) to join the business and help take them forward as they expand, diversify and embark on new business ventures.The Retail Director (Head of Retail) will be a creative and inspirational senior manager with a track record of success gained within a FMCG retail environment and a passion for people and food. Senior retail management experience within a FMCG environment

Passionate about food and drink

An inspirational leader with the ability to motivate, coach and develop a winning team

Experience of developing retail vision and strategy

A proactive planner with the ability to define and deliver an ambitious business plan, defining product and service positioning and translating into business and brand development

Innovative and motivated to push boundaries and create a unique offering

A high level of commercial and financial acumen

A proven ability to drive the growth and profitably of a retail business, overseeing sales, profit, budgets, projection costs and overheads.

Experience of sourcing new suppliers

A strong relationship builder, within the business, with suppliers and within the local community

An organised approach and an eye for detail

Skilled in all areas of retail including merchandising, promotional activity, pricing, stock management etc.

Focused on delivering an exceptional customer experience

Preferably both SME and large retail experience, combining expertise gained within in a dynamic, innovative environment with big company best practice.
