Job Description

A highly reputable college located in the central south Manchester area is looking for a Literacy Intervention specialist to start with them on Monday 1st November following the half term break. Working with the Head of English and special educational needsco-ordinator (SENCO), the successful Literacy specialist will have the chance to work with students in small groups and individually in improving their Literacy and English ability.The SENCO and Assistant Principal/Head of English said of the role:The role would be working with small groups of pupils in Year 12/13 who are sitting/resitting their GSCE English Language or perhaps taking an A-level in the subject. Schemes of work are planned for the successful applicant to follow but we needa confident, Literacy specialist to deliver them. This would be for the remainder of the academic year with potential to take on a college contract with us. The successful person does not need to have a teaching qualificationHighlights of this Literacy/English Intervention position:

  • Pay ranging between £75 and £90 per day; equivalent to £1500 - £1800 per month
  • Based within the colleges English department; the successful Literacy specialist will work with year 12s and 13s
  • Full time, English specialist required to start on Monday 1st November
  • Applications encouraged from English graduates, Literacy specialist Mentors, NQTs or more experienced intervention specialists who have tutored previously
  • Outstanding sixth form college in the central, south Manchester area
