Job Description

Our client is a well-established niche business based in Chorley who are looking for an Assistant Financial Controller to join their business in this newly created position. The purpose of the role is to support the enhancement of the reporting at monthend and develop the financial information available to the SMT at month end, working alongside the existing team they are looking for extra resource within finance to support the strategic growth.Duties include: -

  • Responsible to produce the monthly management accounts plus commentary for the Board
  • Manage the small finance team on a day-to-day basis offering advice and guidance where appropriate
  • Oversee the monthly payroll process and associated calculations
  • Establish an effective internal expenditure process, around monthly overheads, and budgetary controls
  • Monitor the purchase ledger and credit control processes, supporting the efficiencies of reporting controls
  • Assist with the yearly audits and quarterly submissions
  • Establish an effective revenue analysis system, with focus around realtime forecasting
  • Streamline the sales and stock management processes around the business in order to highlight accountability
  • Develop the financial modelling around customer trends, product and GP margin with particularly focus around weekly reports
The successful candidate will have some of the following attributes:
  • Fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA (or nearly qualifying)
  • Demonstrate a solid financial month end reporting background
  • Understand the commercial acumen required to improve the financial accountability
  • Work with all levels of personnel both financial and non-financial
  • Be a bit of a data whizz - around KPIs and associated variances
  • Demonstrate good leadership skills for a small transactional team
The role is a newly created position with the business to support the current Group FC, it has the potential to for the individual to develop both their leadership/management experience and be influential across the business with the company financials.You will be a people person who isnt phased in a fast-paced environment but can effectively work on both financial and commercial reporting to provide insights for the leadership team.
