We need to care about people, and we always like to have a little fun as we do it.More about the Warehouse Operative role:Our Outbase Operatives report directly into the Outbase Supervisors and need to be able to work well in a busy team alongside the Outbase Supervisor and Self-Employed Drivers. In order to successfully meet the needs of our operation, this role is available on a full-time basis, working shifts alternating between 04:00-13:00 and 13:00-22:00. This shift pattern allows our Outbase Operatives to gain a strong understanding of our operation at different key times.Heres what you can expect to be doing as ourWarehouse Operative:While on the early shift, you will play a key role in the customer journey and will make sure that the customer is at the heart of everything we do by ensuring that the right appliance goes to the right customer, on time and in excellent condition. During the late shift, you will de-brief returning crews, checking any items they may be returning, loading scrap appliances and conduct vehicle checks. Both shifts will provide an opportunity to support our drivers in making sure that deliveries throughout their day are efficiently completed, on time, every time whilst remaining legally compliant with Transport legislation and working time directives.Warehouse Operative duties will include;- Working to deadlines co-ordinating the unloading of products from the trailers and loading onto 3.5t and 7.5t delivery vehicles using the correct transhipping process- Assigning the products to the correct delivery vehicles using pick sheets- Using the correct manual handling techniques and safe systems of work in line with H&S training- Checking that trailers going back to Head Office are loaded correctly- Conduct vehicle checks thoroughly ensuring driver check sheets are completed- Record any vehicle defects and communicate this to the Outbase Manager and Outbase Supervisor to ensure no vehicles classed as off the road are used- Report any accidents, product issues or damages- Allocate routes to Self-Employed drivers for the following day, managing their expectations; fairly and consistentlyA few things about you:It is important that our Outbase Operatives work together and stay motivated throughout the shift. You need to be smart enough to work independently and be trusted with the tasks you are given whilst being bold enough to report any issues and be passionate about customer service.There is plenty of opportunity to progress for those who demonstrate the right drive and determination and you can develop your skills to progress to other positions within our business.Skills and experience needed to become our Warehouse Operative- You must have excellent attention to detail and have shown this in your previous experience- Experience of working under pressure or to deadlines- An understanding of handling large products is desirable- Experience of working in a transport/logistics environment with daily fluctuating workloads- Able to react quickly to information, helping solve any challenges to routes- Able to complete heavy manual handling within strict H&S guidelines- Full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential- PC literate including warehouse software and Microsoft PackagesWhy choose AO:Great People Deserve Great ThingsAs an AO employee you can take full advantage of our benefits package.
