Job Description

Join a new catering team as a Catering Assistant at a brand-new service, The Lakefields Neurological Centre in Chigwell. You’ll report to the Head Chef and support chefs to prepare meals, maintain a clean and safe working environment, and assist with deliveries.If you’re looking for a positive environment for your catering career, then being a Catering Assistant here will tick all the boxes. You’ll work 37.5 hours a week on a flexible shift pattern of 08:00-16:00 or 10:00-18:00, so you’ll get to enjoy your evenings!The shift pattern includes working two weekends per month.This is more than just helping in the kitchen. It’sbeing part of providing food for service users (patients) who rely on nutritional and tasty meals, also all site staff – your colleagues - and visitors daily.It’s a social role where you’ll get to serveand engage with everyone at the service.Your responsibilities will include:

Ensure all areas/equipment within the catering department are cleaned using appropriate chemicals and following manufacturer’s instructions.
Serve patients, staff and visitors with food and beverages in a professional and customer friendly manner.
Assist with checking incoming supplies and storing them appropriately.
Ensure all pots, crockery, etc. are cleaned, and stored appropriately.
Ensure that all duties are carried out efficiently and effectively to aid the production, distribution of the hospitality service.
Participate in the control of the kitchen paperwork.

To be successful as a Catering Assistant, youll need:

Knowledge of COSHH and HACCP
Experience of working within similar role
Knowledge of Basic Food Preparation (essential)
Knowledge of menu planning and costing

Where you will be working:The Lakefields Neurological Centre is a brand-new 22-bed service that delivers specialist 24-hour nursing and therapy services for people with complex long-term neurological conditions who require ongoing support and assistance to maximise their functionalability and improve their quality of life.The Centre specialises in neuro-rehabilitation, tracheostomy and ventilator care.Bedrooms are adapted to individual requirements, fitted with high dependency equipment including ceiling track hoists, wall mounted suction and oxygen equipment. There are also well-equipped therapy facilities, spacious lounge areas and wheelchair access tobeautiful gardens.What you will get:
