Job Description

Support Worker£13.00- £15.00 p/hourChester-Le-Street, DurhamThe RoleWe are looking to recruit a talented team member to work on our single cover, 24-hours a day support package, for a gentleman living in the Chester-le-Street area.We are looking for someone with demonstrable experience of supporting people with disabilities. Our ideal candidates will be motivated, flexible, respectful and dedicated to providing excellent standards of care.As a support worker youll report to the Team Leader to ensure that this service operates smoothly and effectively to meet the needs of the service user. The service user is living with a brain injury - prior experience of working with similar clients wouldbe beneficial but training of day-to-day management will be provided. You will work as a team of skilled support staff to ensure that the service user is given high-quality person-centred care.It is important to note that there are 3 large dogs (Huskies) on the property. They areby nature of the breedhigh in energy. The dogs are well trained, they are not aggressive but are protective of the family so a willingness to form familiarity withthe dogs is essential.The dogs are free roaming but are kept outdoorsthe service user does like to utilise the outside space where possible so contact with them is likely.Key Responsibilities:The key responsibilities of a Support worker, but are not limited to:

  • Managing daily tasks and routines by supporting the service user
  • Recording daily logs, medication, nutrition and activities with a high level of accuracy
  • Carrying out work delegated by Team Leader
  • Working on a rota pattern to deliver 24 hours support including sleeping and waking nights

We provide home care to clients in the following local authority areas:Newcastle, Gateshead, North Tyneside, Durham, Northumberland and through private contracts with Solicitors, Case Managers and direct purchase from individuals.Confidence Care and Support Limited believe in promoting independence and the majority of our clients see a reduction in their care needs as we work in partnership to relearn them daily living skills they may have lost, to ensure they can live life to the fulland maintain full control over their lives.The PersonThe key skills and qualities of a Support worker are:
  • Relevant experience of supporting people with disabilities, previous knowledge of brain injury would be beneficial.
  • An NVQ or Diploma level 2 in Health and Social Care is desirable but not essential as full training given and Diplomas supported.
  • Good communication skills
  • Flexibility
