Job Description

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week (plus on call commitment)The Radiology Directorate has a full range of modern specialty imaging services, including DR and DRX general rooms. The Countess of Chester Hospital is a regional vascular centre. We have recently upgraded one of our CT scanners to a cardiac optimised system.The Interventional Radiology Theatre team provide a service to patients from all specialties. We perform vascular procedures such as angioplasties,thrombolysis and thrombectomy, urology-nephrostomies and stenting, biopsies, UGI and colorectal stenting, drainages and embolisations.We also provide an out of hours service to both Arrowe Park and Warrington hospitals as part of the SMART network.In the last couple of years, we have upgraded the department with the installation of a SPECT CT scanner, a new Fluoroscopy room, and a second 1.5 Tesla MR scanner. The whole department has been redesigned to gain maximum benefit from this new technology, to ensure a smooth patient journey and to support the Trust’s role as a trauma unit. The Directorate is constantly developing its services, which are highly regarded within the Trust and by its partners. We are committed to radiographer role development, quality and service modernisation with a flexible approach to practice.The Countess of Chester Hospital is located on the outskirts of the Roman City of Chester. It is served by an excellent transport network, close to the business centres of Liverpool and Manchester, and the rural areas of North Wales and Snowdonia. As a county town, it provides first-class shopping, schools and leisure facilities.Please note the Trust will no longer fund applications for Work Permits and Further Leave to Remain, for staff who work in the Trust. This post is unlikely to attract a Work Permit. Overseas candidates will be responsible for their own travel expenses until the point of entry into Britain. This position will not attract relocation expenses and is restricted to UK and EEA Nationals.Who Our Opportunity is for: We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced nurse to join our friendly and dynamic team. The successful candidate would need 4yrs post qualification experience in nursing and would be required to participate in the out of hours service on a rotational basis. Previous Interventional Radiology experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided, experience in an acute surgical/medical setting would be an advantage.In the department, you will be required to lead the nursing team and organise the throughput of patients ensuring safe and effective care of all patients attending the department. You will also act as scrub nurse during procedures, and be responsible for the monitoring and recovery of patients. As the lead nurse you will also be responsible for the nursing team ensuring we have sufficient cover for theatre sessions.The ability to prioritise your working day, ensuring effective communication, time management and organisational skills in a professional manner is essential.The role will also include involvement in staff and student training to further broaden your experience.Opportunities for postgraduate study are encouraged and supported by the Directorate, and evidence of CPD is essential.What this Opportunity means: You will gain a wide range of experience in Interventional Radiology
