Machine OperativeYou might never have imagined yourself working in a cardboard box factory. But let me tell you; this is so much more than cardboard boxes! This client based in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, designs and manufactures foam packaging and corrugated containers, mainly for the technology industry. The role is CNC Machine Operative to give it its full title.Ok, so machine operative sounds a bit scary, right I mean, what even is CNCCNC stands for Computer Numerical Control and it basically means that the machine is operated by computer software as many machines are these days. Think of it as operating your dishwasher or washing machine at home (ok, maybe with a few more buttons) andyou wont go too far wrong. If you can wash your clothes successfully without shrinking them or turning your whites a weird shade of grey then youll be able to use the machines to cut foam. That still sounds complicatedNot at all! If you have a practical background, if youd be happy working in a busy factory, if you have great communication skills and youre computer literate, we can show you the machine operating bit. Of course, if youve previously worked in the packagingindustry then that would be even better but you dont need packaging experience to be good in this role.Right, so what do I needLots of common sense would be a good start. Being able to pay attention to detail and caring about getting an order right would be fabulous. Well talk to you about all sorts of things like polyurethane block foam and polyethylene sheet foam but all youreally need to know right now is that youd be using a pre-programmed machine to cut foam into various shapes ready to package products like laptops and keyboards and various other bits of technology. So, what do I getThis is a full-time role working Monday to Thursday 8.305 and Friday 8.303pm (woo hoowe love early finish Fridays!).The company offers 22 days plus Bank Holidays, pension contribution and free parking. Its a great team to work with and lots of opportunities to progress and take on extra responsibilities if you want to.What do I doSend us your details and a summary of what kind of work youve done previously and well be in touch. Its that simple.
