Job Description

About the team: The Underwriting department supports the Bank by assessing the risk of lending and protecting the Bank against this risk and losses. With strong market knowledge, diagnostic approach and ability to give dependable decisions, the team take a common senseapproach to manual underwriting.This opportunity is to join the Underwriting team that underwrite Buy-to-Let and Residential cases.About us: OSB Group is a leading specialist mortgage lender, primarily focused on carefully selected segments of the mortgage market. Our specialist lending is supported by our Kent Reliance and Charter Savings Bank retail savings franchises. Diversification of fundingis provided by sophisticated securitisation platforms. OSBs unique cost-efficient operating model is supported by our wholly-owned subsidiary OSBIndia.What you will be doing: In this role, you will be progressing mortgage applications, within your assigned mandate level, through to offer whilst ensuring this is in line with the Banks operating policies and procedures.Your responsibilities will include

  • Developing your underwriting skills via training and coaching, to achieve and enhance your mandate
  • Reviewing agreement in principle documentation ensuring that this meets the requirements of the Banks lending policy
  • Analysing, assessing and underwriting cases from the application being received through to completion within your mandate level
  • Requesting and verifying documentation as required to progress the case
  • Offering mortgages to approved borrowers within service standards
  • Effectively communicating with intermediaries in a timely manner on declined cases, handling objections and providing feedback
In return for your commitment: We offer a base salary dependent on experience of between £27,000 - £32,000 and a competitive benefits package including:

Could you be the oneWe are looking for talented individuals who have the experience/knowledge and qualifications set out below:
  • Previous experience processing mortgage applications or providing administrative support in a mortgage focused environment
  • Experience underwriting mortgages
  • Experience managing cases to a high standard with attention to detail
  • Communication with external parties to share updates and request information
  • Competent using Microsoft Applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel
