Job Description

Are you an Occupational Therapist looking to move your career forward with a company that supports, values and recognises your dedication to delivering great healthcare If so, this role might be for you as we arelooking for an enthusiastic and highly motivatedOccupational Therapist to join our OT team at Farmfield in Charlwood. At Farmfield Hospital we offer low and medium secure services for male patents who have been detained under the Mental Health Act (1983) and who benefit from extended treatment and rehabilitation. The hospital has 51 beds spread across 5 wards (3 medium secureand 2 low secure). Treatment is targeted towards safe resettlement into the community where possible As a OccupationalTherapist, youwill manage a caseload using anevidence-basedapproach and client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluateinterventions. Thesewill provide service users with the confidence, skills and coping strategiesto function in everyday life.With prior experience in a similar role from the NHS or private sector, you will carry a designated caseload to identify occupational therapy goals as part of service users overall care plan through assessment tools.With a strong emphasis on teamwork, you’ll enjoy support from a regional network of healthcare professionals and enjoy access to a variety of training courses to support you reach your career goals.Your responsibilities will include: (The duties of this role are outlined for Senior OT level however they can be tailored to Graduate level if necessary

  • Receive and respond promptly to new admissions, undertaking serviceuser assessmentsto identify and prioritise needs, before planning and delivering the appropriate and relevant interventions either on an individual or group basis. TheOT team followsMOHO (Model of Human Occupation).
  • Maintain evaluation records of performance for individuals, providing verbal and written feedbackforwardrounds and discharge planning meetings. Activelyparticipate in the clinical discussion of service user’s needs and development of care plans.
  • Contribute to discharge planning and in supporting service users through their recovery pathway back into the community.
  • Ensure the effective and efficient management and supervision of more junior staff (2 Occupational Therapy assistants).
  • Maintain and develop close working relationships with professional and clinical colleagues within the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring clinical practise is in line with Elysium policies and procedures and complies with statutory regulations and qualitystandards.
  • Contribute to business growth by actively promoting Elysium Healthcare therapy services in line with the local unit’s business plan.
  • Maintain effective communication links with service users, relatives, carers and external professionals throughout the service user’s rehabilitation journey.
  • Contribute towards service evaluation and development.
To be successful in this role, youll need:
  • To hold a BSC (Hons) or equivalent in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC registration.
  • RCOT membership is recommended, though not essential.
  • To have at least 2 years clinical experience including some experience of working in a mental health inpatient setting. Previous experience of working in an acute setting would be advantageous but is not essential.
