The Company:We are an established asset finance house mainly operating in mainland UK but with offices in Carrickfergus Co Antrim, where this role is based. Our NI office comprises a small team who work alongside a number of home based team members in SE England. Weare an informal, friendly and relaxed firm and we serve clients in many sectors but with a focus on the creative fields.The Role:We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded person to work closely with the company directors in handling collections/bad-debt cases and in preparing and assessing new business proposals. The role will be approximately 60% bad debt focused and40% new business focused.The nature of this role may particularly appeal to applicants who have experience working in the collections or underwriting departments at some of the Tier 1’ asset funders based in Belfast. Applicants with such experience are of particular interest tous and the role could suit someone looking to leave a more corporate position for something more hands-on and with the ability to make yourself an important part of a small organisation.This role will entail working closely with the company directors to handle a tranche of arrears cases as well as assisting in preparing and decisioning commercial finance applications.The arrears handling aspect of this work will entail:1. Liaising with clients on the phone, by email and by letter2. Enforcing debts in the England and Wales Court system through bankruptcy or money-claim proceedings3. Recovery and disposal of assets4. Liaising with external parties such as liquidators, administrators, solicitors, 3rd party guarantors5. Authoritative and commercially-minded handling of cases to achieve appropriate turn-arounds6. Long-term training in bad debt case handling by experienced directorsThe underwriting aspects of this work will entail:1. Carrying out and assessing credit checks on firms and individuals2. Assessing company financials such as bank statements and accounts3. Applying your own real-world experience and common-sense to assessing suitability for lending4. Long-term learning and training to gro to appreciate our appetite for risk and lendingThe package:1. Full-time, office-based role in Carrickfergus2.
