Job Description

Underwriter - Cardiff - Financial Services - Full TimeA well respected client of ours, specialising in second charge mortgages, is seeking a candidate with a previous underwriting experience within financial services to join their team based in central Cardiff. It will be the Underwriters main responsibility to accurately assess incoming loan applications ensuring that the loan is affordable, plausible and sustainable.Underwriters Responsibilities:

  • Composing logical lending rationales for all cases reviewed
  • Minimising the risk to the business and the applicant with a strong focus on fraud avoidance
  • Agreeing exceptions within mandate, ensuring that an appropriate lending rationale is applied to each case
  • Providing a high level of customer services at all stages of an application to both internal and external customers
  • Maintaining and demonstrating an awareness of external factors and market conditions which may affect decision making
  • Ensuring to adhere to regulatory requirements
  • Accurately preparing secured loans for offer within agreed timescales
  • Recommending changes or improvements to policies and procedures
    • Underwriters Key Skills:
  • Previous Underwriting experience
  • Previous experience working within a financial services environment
  • CeMAP Level 3 qualified
