On Site Support Worker. £10.30-£20.00 per hourShifts, for the most part, will be 8am-8pm and 7.45pm-8.15 am. Full time and part time available. Interviews will be required. Progression opportunities. Longer-term housing accommodation has been provided, aimed at allowing residents to live as independently as possible, for those who fit one of the following criteria:- * Single people aged over 55 with limited Move on options on the housing waiting list and currently residing in temporary supported accommodation. * Single People over 55 with complex or identified care or support needs.We are looking for individuals who may have experience working with vulnerable adults to support this new project. Staff on site will need to carry out a range of building management, basic resident support and office administrative tasks. This will include: * Accurately reporting repairs required in flats and communal areas and recording when they have been completed. Assisting new residents to understand their flat such as fuse box and central heating boiler. * Assisting residents to fulfil their responsibilities such as taking their rubbish to the communal bin store. * Regular health and safety checks around the building, such as fire alarms, smoke detectors and emergency exits. * Assisting residents with basic support when they need to contact the DWP about their benefits or make a GP appointment. * Liaising with support professionals and other departments.Skills and abilities:* Communication skills - with residents who may be experiencing distress, answering phone calls from professionals such as Adult Services, contacting Senior Officer and/or Management when appropriate for guidance. * Able to complete tasks laid out in the Daily Shift Planner and taking ownership of those tasks, including recording health and safety checks in the Maintenance Log Book.* Good basic IT skills - sending and responding to emails. Completing online tasks such as Housing Benefit application forms.* Accurate literacy and numeracy skills - inputting information onto spreadsheets, recording information accurately and concisely in case notes, reporting repairs.* Working as a team with colleagues.* Keen to learn about the service.If you feel like this role is for you, please call the Public Sector department at Acorn Newport.Acorn Recruitment acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment.
