Job Description

Logistics Team LeaderWe are recruiting on behalf of a client of ours for a Logistics Team Leader / Manager, to join their team in Cardiff. The client is a worldwide leader in the development, manufacturing and marketing of electronic products for a wide range of consumer, business and industrial needs.Purpose of the RoleThe purpose of the role is to take responsibility for the daily operation of supply chain logistics. Additionally, to execute the logistics plan to move products and packages to reach destinations on schedule. Furthermore to review freight rates and other transportation costs to keep working costs low, whilst maintaining quality throughout the logistic processes.Principle Accountabilities

  • To oversee the distribution, movement and storage of inventory and materials to achieve business commitments.
  • Resolve any complaints and customer service disputes
  • Effectively lead and coordinate the team
  • Negotiate supplier and shipment costs
  • Manage logistics processes and budgets
  • Develop cost-reducing strategies and improvements for efficiency and delivery schedule adherence
  • Monitor workplace safety standards and ensure they are being followed
  • Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • 3 to 5 years experience in an export / import role
  • Working knowledge of all customs processes and paperwork requirements
  • Working relationship with major carriers such as FedEx, TNT, DHL et al.
  • Post Brexit export experience to EU
  • Import / Export experience from / to USA, Canada, Japan, Singapore, China
  • Proven Team Leader / Manager experience in logistics
  • Appropriate academic and (or) vocational qualification
  • Proven leadership and people management skills
  • Experience of Siebel, ORACLE and SAP or similar business system (s)
  • Strong KPI management and the ability to analyse data to influence KPIs
  • Excellent understanding of cost drivers and demonstrated success of cost reduction
  • Demonstrated financial awareness and ability to positively impact the P&L
  • Proven CRM expertise
  • Strong problem solving and root cause analysis to ensure closed loop issue resolution
